Various pictures of Yuri acting out a playful refrigerator CF are making the rounds. Yuri recently took on the role of fashion designer “Choi Anna” in the SBS drama “Fashion King”.
Recently, during a filming for “Fashion King” held at a building in Seoul, Yuri was filming a scene in which she was to take a drink out of a refrigerator. When she was given a break, her playful side appeared, and she acted out a refrigerator CF for the staff members who were tired from their work on the drama.
When the staff members saw Yuri’s playful CF, they reacted by saying, “As expected, Yuri is pretty doing anything,” and, “She’ll get a refrigerator CF contract soon.”
After making her first appearance on the second episode of “Fashion King” in a scene where she met her ex-boyfriend, Yuri left a strong impression with only three minutes of screentime and made a successful drama debut.
Yuri also broke the hearts of many male fans when she was shown in a kiss scene with Jaehyuk (played by actor Lee Jehoon) in the preview of the third episode, which will air on March 26th.

50s Fashion

50s-30s-style-fashion

Here is a fashion spread from a 1957 issue of McCall’s magazine that shows the cutest summer dresses and playsuits inspired by the 1930s.  Just goes to show that no matter what the era, designers always look back for inspiration.

The author of the article states “For you who nostalgically remember the thirties, for you missed them entirely: a wonderful second chance to wear those flirty fashions with young, easy lines and insouciant fit-preferably with T-strap shoes and a cloche!”

50s-30s-style-fashion-2
My favorites are the V necked dropped waist striped dress by Donald Brooks on the far right of first photo,  the adorable nautical dress at left on second photo, by Jerry Gilden.(never met a Jerry Gilden I didn’t like!) and the two playsuits on right.

Fashion Cartoon

Cartoon girls and handbag fashion handbag Vector

Renowned for using nearly all black throughout her collections, last season’s solid white and now A/W12’s vividly coloured and stylised prints suggests that a definite change is in the air. “Make it new,” Kawakubo proclaimed backstage. With this in mind, Kawakubo also brought her models down the catwalk to silence before introducing electronica for her final eveningwear looks.

If one thing is for sure: Rei Kawakubo definitely knows how to put on one hell-of-a-performance, proving that fashion doesn’t have to take itself so seriously.
Lucia Davies is junior editor of AnOther. She has also contributed to titles that include Dazed & Confused, The Independent, It's Nice That, Nowness, Twin and Wonderland.

cartoon-people-business-woman
When you think that every design idea has been exhausted in fashion, Rei Kawakubo comes along and offers up something totally fresh and exciting. “The future is two-dimensions” explained the influential designer on Comme des Garçons’ A/W12 collection of flat-plane and oversized garments.

Was Kawakubo making a comment on how the majority of us view fashion now: through the two-dimensions of print or digital screens? Or the fact that models are our idealised and often unrealistic view of perfection – living dolls – in her garments that came in exaggerated paper-doll shapes (sans tabs)? Whatever the reasons behind her design decisions, Kawakubo’s creations were entirely original.

SAIC Fashion Show 2012

SAIC Fashion Show 2008
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will host its annual Fashion Show and Exhibition on May 1st and 2nd in the recently opened Sage Studios for Fashion Design and the School's new exhibition space, both on the 7th floor of the historic Sullivan Center, 33 S. State Street.

Produced independently by its students and faculty, the SAIC Fashion Show continues its seventy-five-year tradition of showcasing innovative undergraduate student fashion collections, ranging from the elegant to the ready-to-wear, and from the conceptual to the socially engaging. SAIC's Fashion Design program is uniquely situated within the diverse structure of an arts school. "Creativity is high at SAIC because our students find inspiration in traditional fashion design, as well as other studio arts-painting, sculpture, architecture, film, ceramics, and video production to name a few," says department chair Nick Cave. "Students freely pursue experimentation for a unique point of view in concept design, cloth manipulation, and hands-on accessory and garment construction."

Renovation of the Fashion studios in the historic Sullivan Center was made possible by a generous gift from Board Member and SAIC parent Melissa Sage Fadim, a supporter of the Fashion Design department for twenty years. The new 25,000 sq. ft. studio space houses dedicated 24-hour secure access to traditional and advanced technology fabrication facilities; the Fashion Resource Center, one of the country's few hands-on collections of late-twentieth and twenty-first century designer garments; and a unique shoe, millinery, and accessories laboratory. "We believe that the special mix of hands-on-making and technology in art and design at SAIC nurtures designers who will change the direction of fashion and style in the 21st century," adds School president Tony Jones.

The success of the School's undergraduate program in Fashion Design and SAIC's cross-disciplinary approach to education is reflected in a list of alumni that includes such notable designers as Halston, Cynthia Rowley, Laurence Steele, J. Morgan Puett, Eunwha Kim, Maria Pinto, Gary Graham, and Matthew Ames. SAIC graduates hold senior design positions in firms as varied as Yeolee, Jones New York, Levis, Nike, Charles Chang Lima, and Tommy Hilfiger, and design for Anna Sui, Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, Betsey Johnson, Triple5Soul, and Moschino. Upon graduating many have chosen to intern for international houses such as Victor & Rolf, Alexander McQueen, Wendy & Jim, Castelbajac, Zac Posen, Threeasfour, or William Ivey Long, or to launch their own fashion lines.

To honor the efforts of the School's young designers judges award a number of scholarships and grants to talented students, including the prestigious Sage Foundation Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship of merit awarded annually to a student in their junior year. To build upon this tradition of recognizing the accomplishments of talented fashion students, the School's Fashion Committee is hosting a special preview event for the Fashion Show on May 1 to benefit student scholarships.

80s fashion trend

80's fashion
It was all about sparkling under the dance lights. One of the favorites was any metallic material threaded with gold threads. The women had an overabundance of and affection for gold lame’ but the metallic fabrics also showed up in men’s fashion in the form of silvery pants and gold shirts, that ranged from the horrid to the classically sexy. Next to hair, the biggest fashion trend-setter was the dressing up in metallic fabrics for the dance scene.
80s punk fashion
This was the same for both guys and girls. The idea was to make your hair as big and as wild as possible. If you couldn’t make a lion’s mane or a gigantic bush out of your hair, then you chopped it, dyed it, spiked it, and did everything you could to make your hair look like a UFO had just landed. Having a permanent done at a hair salon to achieve flowing curly locks was equally appealing to both men and women.
80s fashion outfits
Big hair was in and men wore their hair long and wild. The 80′s fashion trends for men were driven by the success of “MTV.” Music became a main focal point of fashion.  A recent trend in men’s fashion is a resurgence of interest in the 1980′s and the styles from that decade are being brought back in a retro-fashion for the so-called “80′s Babies.” 80′s babies are people who lived through that decade as teenagers to young adults but now also include those that were born during that decade and wish they were old enough to remember it.

Hair Style 2012: French Twist

dolce gabbana messy french twist
How to: Dolce & Gabbana’s holiday French twist.  This Sophia Loren-inspired hair look translates for a glamorous woman who’s on a holiday. It's the kind of style you’d pull together while you’re sunbaking on a Mediterranean island. We're anticipating this look to be a winner during 2012’s sultry summer, especially when paired with feminine silhouettes, a flick of eyeliner, and a sensual pout. Follow the step by step how-to guide after the break to recreate this holiday hairstyle for yourself.
On the Milan runway, Dolce & Gabbana successfully married the socially incompatible pair of food and fashion. But backstage, there was another party. A party where pasta, chilli, cheese and clothes weren’t invited, but an entry was guaranteed for Sophia Loren and other Italian women with equally seductive hair.

We’re talking about the hair inspiration at Dolce and Gabbana’s spring 2012 runway show. As seen on the runway, the loosely tousled curls were pulled back together in an effortless French twist. But, just like all other catwalk shows, watching perfectly groomed hair on a model is one thing, and interpreting it in your daily regime is a completely different story.

This spring 2012 hairstyle translates for a glamorous woman who’s on a holiday. The kind of style you’d pull together while you’re sunbaking on a Mediterranean island. We are anticipating this look to be a winner during 2012’s sultry summer.

At the Dolce and Gabbana spring 2012 show, hair tongs were used to create more elaborate waves. Here, following the Redken team’s instructions, you can recreate the look with a more natural and fast-paced approach.

The how to:
“(The hair) looks a bit as if the woman was dancing all night,” says Redken’s Creative Consultant, Guido.
Guiding you through the look, Guido shares with us his top tips to achieve this “effortless gorgeous” hairdo at home.

1.) To build volume in your locks, massage a thickening lotion all through damp hair (at Dolce & Gabbana the hair team used Redken’s Thickening Lotion 06 – All Over Body Builder). The key is to maintain a natural movement, so avoid using a brush when your hair is still wet. Let the hair naturally dry.

2.) If your hair still lacks beach-like texture, apply a texturizing cream to the roots, especially around the crown. Guido suggests Redken’s Soft Texturizing Cream-Wax.

3.) The hair should be completely dry by this stage, don’t proceed to the next step if it isn’t. Dry hair is essential for styling this look.
dolce gabbana spring 2012 hair

4.) Backbrush (not back comb – very important to know the difference) the hair to add more texture and rough volume to the roots of the hair. Start from the nape of the neck and work upwards.

5.) Once your hair has the volume and texture, finger comb the hair back, away from the face, and pull hair back into a French twist. Secure with bobby pins.

6..) Blow-dry the fringe in an upward motion to create a quiff bouffant, and then pull it back and secure with bobby pins.

7.) Don’t pull back the hair too tightly; make sure to keep the hair loose around the face. You need to maintain the naturalness of the look here.

8.) Finish it off with some hairspray, if needed.

The tousled French twist: how to wear it
There’s really no better inspiration than Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2012 collection. The key is to emphasise the female form with a ‘60s sex kitten twist. With this hairstyle, you can’t go wrong with clothes that accentuate curves, draw in the waist (or indeed, give a bare hint of it) and extend the legs. Flicked out eyeliner is another perfect pairing for this La Dolce Vita holiday hairstyle.
Our thanks to Redken for sharing their tips from backstage.
